ELSA (Extensible Low-Profile Solar Array) is an innovative power solution designed to minimize solar array stowed volume and mass, offering 50% more power by volume than traditional arrays.
Description
ELSA is an innovative power solution engineered to minimize solar array stowed volume and mass, while remaining competitive with conventional solar array technology in terms of price and performance. It leverages Redwire’s experience with flexible substrates from their flight-proven ROSA technology. ELSA stacks 50% more frames in the same stowed volume as a traditional Solar Array, without compromising on performance or cost. It is designed for production and rapidly available to support upcoming missions. Key features include a 50% better stowed volume (reduced stack height) compared to a comparable rigid panel design, rapid development with <12 months from purchase order to first delivery, and a configurable design that supports power requirements from 500W to 5kW. It is customizable, allowing users to choose from high-performance III-V or low-cost Silicon solar cell technologies. The modularity allows the number of panels to be configured to meet specific mission requirements. ELSA is engineered for volume production and rapid development.
