EDGX Sterna DPU — Onboard AI Compute powered by NVIDIA
Description
The EDGX Sterna DPU is a space-qualified, mission-ready data processing unit (DPU) for satellite onboard computing, built on NVIDIA Orin GPU technology. Europe's first mature NVIDIA-based payload compute solution, the Sterna delivers high-performance AI acceleration at low power to enable complex machine learning and data-processing algorithms to run directly in orbit. It reduces raw data downlink requirements, enables real-time onboard decision-making, and supports demanding workloads for Earth observation analytics, spectrum monitoring, space situational awareness, and 5G/6G non-terrestrial network (NTN) applications. The system completed its first in-orbit demonstration aboard SpaceX Transporter-16 (Falcon 9) in March 2026 and is available with the companion SpaceFeather Software development platform.
