DAG - Dogu Anadolu Gozlemevi - L'Edificio
EIE Space Technologies Srl is constructing the enclosure for the DAG (Eastern Anatolia Observatory) 4-meter optical telescope in Erzurum, Turkey.
Description
The DAG (Dogu Anadolu Gözlemevi, Eastern Anatolia Observatory) project is funded by the Turkish Ministry of Development and Atatürk University. EIE, already involved in the design and construction of the DAG telescope, has also secured the contract for the construction of the enclosure that will house the telescope. The rotating octagonal enclosure is designed to ensure maximum exposure of the telescope during observations while guaranteeing maximum protection from atmospheric agents, strong winds, and dust, all while maintaining a stable internal temperature. Both the walls and the roof will be thermally insulated using insulating panels. Two lateral sliding doors (slit doors) will allow the telescope to operate at full field, while a special barrier, the Windscreen, made of air-permeable panels, will rise vertically as needed, following the telescope's movements and protecting it from wind and dust. Ventilation openings will be built along the entire perimeter of the enclosure to allow air circulation. The building will also be equipped with locking pins, a thermal control system, plant installations, a lighting system, an HVAC system, a fire and seismic protection system, and a control system.
