Description
In-Space Missions is collaborating with BAE Systems to provide the capability to design, build, launch, and operate their Azalea satellites. The Azalea Cluster 1 is scheduled for launch into low Earth orbit in 2025, aiming to deliver real-time, high-quality information and intelligence from space to military clients. This cluster will utilize a variety of sensors to gather radar and radio frequency (RF) data. This data will then be analyzed by on-board machine learning on edge processors, ensuring the resulting intelligence is delivered securely, anywhere in the world, while still in orbit. The Azalea cluster is designed to provide timely, actionable intelligence crucial for military operations and disaster response. It comprises four highly resilient satellites capable of collecting, analyzing, and communicating Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and RF signals. Unlike traditional single-purpose satellites, the Azalea cluster can be fully reconfigured in orbit, similar to how a smartphone installs a new app, which extends the satellites' lifecycle and allows for future customer missions. BAE Systems is partnering with ICEYE to integrate ICEYE’s advanced SAR technology with its own sensor expertise into the cluster. The Azalea system significantly reduces the time taken to process and distribute data by combining and analyzing it in space, enabling it to identify activities of interest and communicate directly with ground users within moments of detection, delivering assured data securely and promptly to decision-makers.
