Description
Hydra 70 is iRocket's solid rocket motor (SRM) program, developed to reindustrialize U.S. defense manufacturing capacity for small rockets, missiles and interceptor systems. The product line spans small SRMs from 1 to 10 inches in diameter, built using iRocket's proprietary propulsion technology and advanced/additive manufacturing processes on a fully automated SRM factory line.
iRocket demonstrated the program's speed with a successful Hydra 70 launch in Los Angeles on October 9, 2025, taking the motor from design to flight in roughly 30 days. The demonstration flight reached more than 12,000 ft altitude at approximately Mach 1 (~750 mph), with successful fin deployment and spin stabilization. The company positions Hydra 70 as offering 'built to print' interceptor systems, rapid advanced prototyping, rapid turnaround testing, extended-range SRM variants, and digital twin / model-based systems engineering (MBSE) support, backed by several signed letters of intent (LOIs) with prospective customers.
