About KAIST SaTReC

KAIST SaTReC (Satellite Technology Research Center) at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has been Korea's pioneering satellite development center since 1989. The center developed KITSAT-1, South Korea's first satellite, launched in 1992 from Kourou.

SaTReC developed multiple platforms including KITSAT-1/2/3, DubaiSat-1 and DubaiSat-2 for the UAE, and DEIMOS-1 for Spain, demonstrating South Korea's small satellite capability internationally.

Research focuses on satellite system design, remote sensing instruments, attitude control, and on-board data handling. SaTReC has trained generations of Korean satellite engineers.

Through technology transfer and partnerships, SaTReC helped establish satellite programs in the UAE, Spain, and other countries, establishing Korea as a key player in small satellite technology.
