Metafilter Colour Filter Technology
Next-generation camera chip colour filter technology delivering 30% enhanced low-light sensitivity and superior colour sharpness — inorganic Bayer filter replacement for image sensors.
Description
Metahelios develops Metafilter, a next-generation colour filter technology for camera chip image sensors that replaces archaic organic Bayer filter materials with an inorganic alternative manufactured directly from the pixels' own material. The technology delivers 30% enhanced sensitivity for night-time photography alongside unparalleled colour sharpness and definition compared to traditional camera chip colour filters, while simplifying manufacturing supply chains. Metahelios was selected by Silicon Catalyst ChipStartUK, one of the world's most prominent semiconductor accelerators, as part of a cohort of 10 UK companies chosen from 40 applicants. While initially targeting smartphone image sensors, the underlying filter technology is applicable to imaging sensors broadly, including remote sensing and space-based optical payloads requiring enhanced low-light sensitivity and colour accuracy.
