About Modularity Space

Modularity Space was a U.S. space-systems company headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida, focused on making orbital access faster and cheaper by rethinking the satellite as reusable, shareable infrastructure rather than disposable hardware. Rather than requiring each customer to design, build, and operate its own dedicated spacecraft, Modularity Space developed standardized satellite buses — including a 16U CubeSat platform (CUBIC-16) and a larger ESPA-class platform (HOST) — engineered to host multiple payloads simultaneously and to be refueled, repaired, and upgraded while on orbit.

The company was originally founded in 2016 as Weintraus, Inc., an on-orbit servicing company, before rebranding in 2019 to Modularity Space with a broader mission of building satellites designed for reusability from the ground up. It positioned itself as a turn-key mission partner, offering everything from systems engineering and bus manufacturing to launch procurement, integration, ground-segment support, and Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) operations, letting customers focus on their payload rather than the complexity of spacecraft development.

In its later years, the company shifted toward a leasing-based business model branded 'The Neighborhood' — allowing space companies to lease satellite capacity, from a fraction of a satellite up to full constellations, bundled with mission operations, in an approach comparable to renting rather than buying a spacecraft. The company partnered with SpaceChain on decentralized satellite infrastructure and targeted recurring quarterly reusable-satellite missions by 2023.

Modularity Space is no longer active as a space company; its former web domain now redirects to an unrelated wireless-technology venture, and third-party company trackers list it as closed. This profile is preserved for historical reference.
