About OneSpace Technologies
OneSpace Technologies (零壹空间, 'OneSpace' / stylized ONE SPACE) is a private Chinese space launch company founded in Beijing in August 2015 by Shu Chang and Ma Chao. It was the first privately held Chinese enterprise explicitly authorized to develop and manufacture launch vehicles, and it targets the small-launcher market for microsatellites and nanosatellites. The company is headquartered in Beijing with its main research, development, manufacturing and assembly base in Chongqing, plus subsidiary operations in Shenzhen and Xi'an.
OneSpace's vehicle programs follow a vertically integrated 'rocket-plus' business model spanning solid-propellant suborbital sounding rockets and orbital small-satellite launchers. Its OS-X suborbital series achieved a milestone in May 2018 when the OS-X0 vehicle became China's first privately developed commercial suborbital rocket to fly successfully; later variants in the series, including OS-X1 and OS-X6B, extended flight altitude and test capability. Its orbital OS-M series is a four-stage solid-fuel launch vehicle designed to place around 112 kg into a 500 km sun-synchronous orbit, with OS-M2 and OS-M4 variants adding strap-on boosters for higher payload capacity; the OS-M1 attempted its first orbital launch from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in March 2019, carrying a technology-verification satellite, though the mission ended in a second-stage failure.
Beyond the OS-X and OS-M lines, OneSpace has grouped its launch vehicle and related hardware development under five in-house product names — Linglong (灵龙), Wangshu (望舍), Xuanque (玄阳), Xuanzhu (玄珠) and Hongming (鸿鸣) — covering rocket airframes, mobile transporter-erector-launcher ground systems, and ruggedized field command/data terminals used to support launch and test operations. The company has raised significant private funding, including a Series B round of roughly $43.6 million in 2018, and continues to develop toward a fully reusable, information-driven and intelligent launch-services platform for the Chinese commercial space market.
