Description
PADS is Orbital Matter's compact, self-contained manufacturing module that integrates with existing satellite platforms to build large structural booms directly in orbit. It stores a proprietary liquid photopolymer resin (SPACECRETE) that is extruded through a precision print head and cured instantly with UV light in the vacuum of space, producing a continuous, joint-free rigid boom without hinges, latches or fold-out mechanisms. PADS can print structures ranging from about 10 meters up to 100+ meters, with an adjustable diameter of 38-90mm, around 20W peak power consumption, and zero on-orbit debris generation. The system targets applications such as solar array booms, radiators and antenna structures for satellites and future orbital infrastructure.
