Astraeus
High-thrust, cryogenic orbital transfer vehicle for rapid intercept, defense, and repositioning missions.
Description
Astraeus is Orbital Operations' flagship orbital transfer vehicle, engineered to deliver intercept, defense, and repositioning capabilities within hours rather than months. The vehicle uses proven cryogenic engine technology adapted from launch vehicles for continuous use in space, paired with zero boil-off propellant storage and integrated radiative cooling for extended on-orbit loiter without propellant loss.
Astraeus supports a refuelable architecture via water-based electrolysis or cryogenic transfer, enabling long-term reusability for repeated missions. Performance specifications include hosted payload delivery of 300 kg at 10 km/s, LEO-to-GEO-and-return delivery of 3,200 kg at 8.8 km/s in about 6 hours, and LEO-to-TLI-and-return delivery of 7,500 kg at 6.75 km/s in about 3 days, supporting defense, commercial, and infrastructure customers that need rapid, dynamic in-orbit maneuvering.
