Xona Space Systems

Xona Space Systems is a US commercial navigation satellite company developing PULSAR — a low Earth orbit (LEO) constellation designed to deliver centimeter-level positioning accuracy globally as an alternative, complement, and augmentation to existing GNSS constellations including GPS, Galileo, and GLONASS.

Traditional GNSS constellations operate from medium Earth orbit (MEO), which limits signal strength at the ground and introduces significant signal processing latency. PULSAR addresses these limitations by using a large LEO constellation with much stronger signals (approximately 25x stronger than GPS), faster update rates, and enhanced resilience to jamming and spoofing. The stronger signal enables faster time-to-first-fix and improved performance in challenging environments such as urban canyons, under tree canopy, and in moving vehicles experiencing high dynamics.

Xona's PULSAR service targets markets requiring precision beyond GPS's standard performance: autonomous vehicles requiring lane-level positioning, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) needing reliable sub-decimeter navigation, precision agriculture machines performing centimeter-level field operations, and surveying/construction applications. The service works as a standalone navigation solution or in combination with existing GNSS receivers through signal-level integration.

Founded in 2019 and based in San Jose, California, Xona Space Systems has secured backing from strategic investors in the space and positioning sectors and has demonstrated its signal design and receiver processing technology through prototyping and early LEO experiments, with full constellation deployment targeted to serve the growing autonomous systems market.
