About
Arka is Bellatrix Aerospace’s series of Hall Effect Thrusters (HETs), spanning 50 W to 5 kW of input power to serve everything from CubeSats to large geostationary platforms. Built on more than a decade of electric propulsion experience, the Arka line uses a novel design approach aimed at improving performance, operational life, cost, and weight compared to incumbent HET designs. The series includes five qualified variants: Arka 50, Arka 100, Arka 200, Arka 1500 and Arka 5000, offering thrust levels from single-digit millinewtons up to hundreds of millinewtons and specific impulse from 860 s to 2000 s. ARKA has been space-qualified aboard ISRO’s PSLV C-58 POEM-3 mission, where it flew with the world’s first heaterless hollow cathode demonstrated in orbit, reducing system complexity and improving reliability versus traditional heated cathodes.
