The ARM-O (Aurora Resistojet Module for Orbit Control) is part of Aurora’s water resistojet thruster product family. It uses a resistojet thruster designed primarily for water propellant but capable of supporting multiple propellant options; the thruster itself weighs about a gram, enabling complex multi-thruster configurations even on CubeSats. ARM-O is intended to give satellite operators control for collision avoidance and small orbital maneuvers, with an efficient and compact system delivering reliable propulsion for precise control and extended mission capabilities. It is aimed at SmallSats, CubeSats and PicoSats. Per the manufacturer, it offers ten times more thrust-to-power need compared to FEEP (Field Emission Electric Propulsion) thrusters and double the specific impulse compared to cold gas propulsion, while being described as a safe and reliable propulsion solution. Like other Aurora products, it is designed with modularity in mind, allowing low-cost off-the-shelf solutions as well as extensively customized solutions for specific use cases, and is positioned as supporting sustainable, orbit-maintenance-driven fleet return-on-investment. An In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) is planned for 2026.
