About

Beyond Reach Labs’ Deployable Solar Array delivers orders-of-magnitude more power per launch compared to traditional deployable solar technologies. The design addresses the fundamental structural challenge in large solar arrays: as arrays grow longer, their first bending mode frequency drops, making them susceptible to vibrations that interfere with spacecraft pointing and control. Traditional approaches required a trade-off between building stiffer (heavier, more expensive) arrays or shorter (lower-power) ones. Beyond Reach Labs’ proprietary architecture breaks this trade-off through innovations in mechanical meta-materials and origami-inspired mechanisms, enabling large arrays that are both structurally stiff enough to prevent vibration interference and power-dense enough to supply the next generation of in-space infrastructure. Target applications include orbital data centers (high-performance in-space computing leveraging vacuum cooling and satellite proximity), large orbital platforms (research labs, manufacturing facilities, space stations), and permanent lunar surface operations requiring energy systems that can sustain life support, in-situ resource utilization (ISRU), and scientific exploration through the Moon’s extended nights.
