About
Blue Orbit’s Resistojet is a simple and cost-effective electric thruster that heats propellant through a resistive heating element before exhausting it through a nozzle. While it produces lower specific impulse than ion or Hall thrusters, the Resistojet offers the advantages of simplicity, low power consumption, and compatibility with a wide variety of propellants including water, ammonia, and butane.
The Resistojet is the most compact thruster in Blue Orbit’s lineup at 33×33×100 mm, making it ideal for 1U-3U CubeSat applications where volume is severely constrained. It provides 27–30 mN of thrust with a specific impulse of 103–108 seconds.
