About

CBAT (Capacitive Based Aerial Transmission) is IVO Limited’s proprietary wireless power transfer technology designed to deliver meaningful electrical energy through non-conductive media including air, walls, and water — without the need for physical ports, charging pads, or precise device alignment. Unlike inductive wireless charging, which requires close proximity and alignment, CBAT uses capacitive field coupling to transmit power over greater distances and through intervening materials.

A single CBAT transmitter can simultaneously power multiple devices, making it suitable for dense device environments and distributed sensor networks. The technology was invented by Richard Mansell (IVO’s CTO) and represents the foundational patent portfolio underlying IVO’s broader electrostatic technology platform, which also informs the Quantum Drive propulsion system.

Potential applications span satellite power distribution, terrestrial IoT and consumer electronics charging, underwater sensor networks, and embedded systems where cable routing is impractical.
