Recovery tower

The Recovery tower is designed for the Leap rocket to eliminate landing legs, reduce weight, and improve carrying capacity by enabling a tower recovery scheme.

About

The Recovery tower is a ground-based system specifically designed for the Leap rocket to facilitate its recovery. By adopting a tower recovery scheme, it eliminates the need for landing legs on the rocket, thereby reducing the rocket’s weight and improving its carrying energy gate. This system aims to reduce landing impact loads, prolong the rocket’s service life, and prevent engine jet reflection and ablation when the rocket approaches the ground. Furthermore, it reduces the electrical equipment and sensors required on the rocket, which in turn minimizes testing content and compresses the test cycle. The tower features a robust design and manufacture of its structure and recovery arm, a high dynamic fast response hydraulic system, an automatic motion control system, and a high-precision approach identification and positioning system.
