About
WORK Microwave’s Virtual Ground Station (VGS) utilizes two main units for the digitalization of RF signals: the DBDC (Digital Block Downconverter) and the DBUC (Digital Block Upconverter). The DBDC receives antenna signals from LNA (or LNB) directly, converting them to digital packets via block down conversion from RF to digital baseband. These digital baseband signals are then transported as IP packets in DIFI (Digital Intermediate Frequency Interoperability) standard to the V-series software modem. Conversely, the DBUC receives digital baseband signals as IP packets in DIFI standard from the V-series software modem, converting them to RF signals through block up conversion from digital baseband to RF. The resulting RF signals are then sent to the HPA for amplification and uplink to the satellite. These converters are designed as outdoor units for direct antenna mounting, eliminating the need for large RF shelters or saving significant space in system integration. They offer multiple-band options (e.g., triple for Ka-band, dual for Ku-Band) for simultaneous Tx and Rx across high/medium/low bands, along with a switchable LO option. They ensure lossless transport for IP networks with QoS and sufficient bandwidth, and feature a fiber optical output option for the block downconverter and input option for the block upconverter. The units are built to withstand high operational temperatures ranging from -40° to +70° C.
