About

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ESL) at Stellenbosch University is a world-recognized center for small satellite development in Africa. Building on the success of SUNSAT (1999), the ESL has continued developing expertise in satellite subsystems, ADCS, onboard computing, and systems engineering. ESL researchers contribute to South Africa’s satellite programs and collaborate internationally. The lab trains engineers who go on to work at SANSA, Denel, and commercial space companies. ESL also provides consulting and engineering support for small satellite missions.
