About
General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) develops advanced satellite buses, space electronics, and ground segment command-and-control systems for US government, Department of Defense, and intelligence community space programs. GDMS is a key prime contractor and subsystem provider for classified US national security space programs.
GDMS developed the satellite bus for the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) — a constellation of five highly elliptical orbit satellites providing narrowband UHF SATCOM for US military mobile forces. MUOS provides 3G-cellular-like connectivity to battlefield users with legacy UHF terminals. GDMS also provides space-qualified software, avionics, and payload electronics for several classified reconnaissance and signals intelligence programs.
In ground systems, GDMS develops satellite command and control software (EPOCH — the Joint Space Operations Center’s space control software), GPS ground control upgrades, and mission planning systems for US Space Force. The company is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Fairfax, Virginia, and is a division of General Dynamics Corporation (one of the US’s largest defense contractors by revenue).
