CubeSat Solar Panel

GTM Advanced Structures
CubeSat Solar Panel

Compact, flight-qualified solar panels for CubeSat platforms, with over 200 units deployed across commercial and institutional missions.

About

GTM Advanced Structures’ CubeSat Solar Panel is a miniaturized, space-qualified photovoltaic assembly tailored to the volume and interface constraints of CubeSat form factors (1U through 16U and beyond). GTM handles the complete development cycle — from initial mission power analysis and cell selection through substrate manufacturing, PVA assembly, and final acceptance testing — under a single AS9100-certified roof.

Substrates are manufactured using composite skins with autoclave cure processes, machined to precise CubeSat standard interfaces. The photovoltaic assemblies use high-efficiency GaAs or silicon cells that are sorted for performance uniformity, interconnected by welding, bonded, harnessed, and inspected in-line before final integration.

Each panel is verified through GTM’s full in-house test suite: EL and PL inspection for cell health, Light-IV measurement for power output, and deployment verification for body-mounted and deployable configurations. The result is a panel that arrives at the customer integration facility already tested and ready to install.

Over 200 GTM CubeSat solar panels are currently operating in orbit, underpinning a heritage record that spans educational, commercial remote sensing, and IoT constellation missions. GTM’s expanding facility — growing by 900 m² before end of 2026 — will further increase throughput to meet rising CubeSat market demand.
