The ISISPACE Compact Electrical Power System (CEPS) is a second-generation compact power system designed for nanosatellites, particularly suitable for 1U up to 3U CubeSats. This system incorporates wide bandgap semiconductor technologies, specifically utilizing GaN-FETs, to enhance solar power conversion efficiency and overall performance. Key features include an integrated heater, hardware-based Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), and robust hardware voltage and over-current protection. The iEPS provides regulated power buses at 3.3V and 5V, in addition to an unregulated bus. The system’s flexibility is further extended by an add-on daughter board, which enables additional configurations to appropriately power both the system itself and various payload instruments. It is built on a compact single PC/104 form factor board solution and uses FRAM based MCUs for improved radiation tolerance. The design also focuses on low (idle) power consumption.
