About
Hyperfield is Kuva Space’s hyperspectral Earth-observation microsatellite line and the core of its growing satellite constellation. The satellites continuously capture scientific-grade data on Earth’s evolving conditions, feeding Kuva Sense, the company’s planetary intelligence platform, and are intended to serve agriculture, aquaculture, environmental protection, forestry and security applications such as monitoring crop health, forest vitality, water quality, environmental change and security operations. Each satellite offers continuous measurement across hundreds of spectral bands for detailed spectral analysis, near real-time intelligence for rapid response to time-critical events, and in-orbit tailored data acquisition that adapts to specific application needs. The satellites feature three distinct imaging modes, allowing focus on specific wavelengths relevant to each application for tailored, actionable intelligence, and their operation (from data capture to analytics and delivery) is orchestrated with integrated AI. Data is combined with relevant third-party data and AI analytics to uncover hidden patterns, diagnose root causes, and predict future trends. The first generation, Hyperfield-1A and Hyperfield-1B, are Kuva Space’s first commercial satellites in the constellation, setting a new standard for hyperspectral data collection for agriculture, aquaculture, carbon, environment and defense applications. Hyperfield-2, planned for launch in 2026, is a second-generation satellite featuring expanded spectral coverage and improved spatial resolution, enabling deeper analysis and strengthened predictive modeling through richer, more detailed data collection. By 2030, Kuva Space plans to expand the constellation to 100 satellites, enabling sub-daily data acquisition anywhere on Earth. The Hyperfield program builds on technology validated by Kuva Space’s earlier missions, including Reaktor Hello World (hyperspectral imaging demonstrator), Sunstorm (solar X-ray spectrometer), W-Cube (W/Q-band communications beacon), and contributions to ESA’s Hera mission (CubeSat life-support interfaces and a hyperspectral imager for asteroid mineral analysis).
