About

The NK-15 was the first-stage rocket engine of the Soviet N1 Moon rocket, burning LOX and kerosene in an oxygen-rich staged combustion cycle. The N1 first stage used 30 NK-15 engines in clustered configuration. The NK-15 was later refined and improved into the NK-33, which achieved significantly better performance and reliability.
