About
The Kythera Operating System (KOS) is a SATCOM Operating System designed to manage satellite payloads and coordinate them with in-orbit and ground-based assets. It autonomously optimizes an entire satellite fleet to improve service delivery and reduce operational costs. KOS enables dynamic provisioning and management of satellite services, enhancing quality of service and lowering the cost per useful bit. It is described as setting the gold standard for managing and optimizing software-defined satellites and SATCOM networks, offering an easy way for customers to leverage SDS satellite capabilities. KOS has been adopted by Thales Alenia Space for their Space Inspire Ground mission segment and is a key technology partner in the O3b mPOWER ecosystem for SES. Methera also leverages the Kythera Operating System standard to power its Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) constellation, integrating SATCOM and space-based data collection services.
