About
RASCube LB is a simplified version of the RASCube V2 CubeSat platform, developed as the centrepiece hardware kit for Robinson Aerospace’s LaunchBox educational program. It is designed to introduce students and hobbyists to satellite-style engineering and data collection, though it is explicitly not designed for space launch (the flight-qualified equivalent is RASLaunch). The kit transmits wireless data to a nearby computer and carries onboard sensors capable of measuring over 30 types of data at a rate of five samples per second. A companion computer software application provides a live, visual user interface for the incoming sensor data, and all data is also logged locally to an included micro SD card. The kit supports customisation through laser cutting, 3D printing, and programming, allowing users to design and add their own hardware add-ons. RASCube LB is intended to be flown on platforms such as drones or weather balloons rather than launched to space. All necessary tools, batteries, and resources are included with the kit. The manufacturer notes that the RASCube LB software is still evolving and may undergo minor changes over time.
