SatNOGS Network

SatNOGS (Satellite Networked Open Ground Stations) is the Libre Space Foundation’s open-source global satellite ground station network. Comprising 500+ community-operated stations distributed worldwide, SatNOGS provides free, decentralised access to satellite telemetry and data for researchers, students, satellite operators, and space amateurs.

The SatNOGS infrastructure consists of: the SatNOGS Network (web platform and scheduling system), SatNOGS Client (open-source software running on each ground station), SatNOGS Hardware (open-source rotator and antenna designs), and the SatNOGS DB (open satellite database). Any operator can deploy a SatNOGS-compatible ground station and contribute observations to the global pool.

For satellite operators, SatNOGS dramatically increases coverage opportunities without investing in proprietary ground infrastructure. For researchers and CubeSat teams, it provides access to telemetry data from satellites that would otherwise be unreachable with a single-station setup. The network has tracked thousands of satellites since its launch and represents one of the largest open-hardware citizen science infrastructure projects in space.
