About
HeatView is Map Impact’s satellite-derived heat stress susceptibility mapping product for the United Kingdom, scored 1–5 (Very Low to Very High) at approximately 50 m spatial resolution on an H3 hexagonal grid. It integrates data from three satellite sources: Landsat-8/9 (NASA/USGS) for historical land surface temperature trends; MODIS (NASA) for day/night temperature variation and urban heat island (UHI) analysis; and Sentinel-2 (ESA) for high-resolution multispectral data identifying vegetation cover and cooling factors. Each location is characterised by 54 total features — 18 features per year across three years — with temporal windows covering the full year, the hot season (April–September), and peak summer (June–August). Forward projections at 5-year, 30-year, and 50-year horizons are generated using Met Office RCP (Representative Concentration Pathway) climate models. Use cases include property conveyancing and valuation, housing association portfolio risk assessment, planning applications in urban areas, and climate adaptation planning for local authorities and developers. Map Impact is a UK-based geospatial analytics company founded in 2023.
