The Needronix Swan is a sun sensor specifically designed for geostationary orbit (GEO) operations, where the solar irradiance environment and eclipse/illumination conditions differ significantly from LEO. The Swan’s extended dynamic range allows reliable sun vector measurement throughout GEO eclipse transitions and solar eclipses without saturation or underflow, ensuring continuous availability of the sun reference for attitude determination and momentum management of GEO platforms. It uses the same digital output interface philosophy as the Eagle family for straightforward spacecraft integration.
