The vehicle is powered by pressure-fed Skyblue-family engines burning LOX/LNG propellant, producing 12 kN of vacuum thrust. Blue Whale 0.4 serves as an intermediate step in Perigee’s launch vehicle development program, bridging the educational Blue Whale 0.1 sounding rocket and the orbital Blue Whale 1 launch vehicle, and provides a flight-proven platform for validating avionics, structures, and propulsion technologies ahead of orbital missions.
