About
The GreenBox service is R-Space’s all-in-one In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) and In-Orbit Validation (IOV) offering for technology developers. It enables organizations to test their hardware and software payloads in the actual space environment without needing to become satellite operators. R-Space supplies the satellite bus, manages a Payload Accommodation Unit (PAU) with standardized interfaces, handles launch integration, operates the satellite on-orbit, and delivers mission data directly to the customer.
The PAU provides fixed mechanical, electrical, and thermal interfaces, dramatically simplifying payload integration. GreenBox is available in 2U, 3U (baseline and extended), and 6U configurations, with the 6U variant planned for Q4 2026. The process covers seven steps: accommodation analysis, contract, integration, spacecraft build, qualification testing, launch, and in-orbit operations with data delivery.
The service is designed around speed and simplicity, targeting technology readiness level progression from TRL 5–6 on the ground to TRL 7–9 in orbit. Communication interfaces supported include CAN, UART, RS485, RS422, and I2C. Available on-board voltages are 3.3 V, 5 V, and a programmable 2–14 V rail covering a wide range of payload types.
