About
RWASAT-1, nicknamed Suisei (Comet), is the first satellite developed and operated by SEIREN Co., Ltd., launched March 22, 2021 from Baikonur Cosmodrome. It was developed as part of the Fukui Prefectural Citizens Satellite Project, a consortium of local manufacturers, systems companies, the Fukui Prefectural Government, and the University of Tokyo. The satellite successfully entered orbit and began imaging Fukui Prefecture every approximately two weeks, demonstrating SEIREN entry into operational satellite manufacturing.
