About
SPACEiN is developing India’s first privately owned Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation to deliver high-speed, reliable, and cost-effective connectivity across India, with a focus on empowering underserved and rural communities. The constellation is designed to create a ubiquitous communication network that bridges the digital divide and enables industries such as defense, agriculture, education, and healthcare to leverage digital technologies.
The system integrates LEO satellites with High-Altitude Pseudo Satellites (HAPS) and terrestrial ground nodes in a unified multi-layer architecture, ensuring always-on connectivity even in remote terrains, disaster zones, or areas where traditional telecom infrastructure is absent. The satellite network supports both broadband internet and IoT/M2M data services.
The HAPS component is a key differentiator — aerial platforms can be deployed within minutes during natural disasters, conflicts, or communication blackouts, instantly creating connectivity zones over affected areas. The overall system features software-defined payloads with encryption, AI-led intrusion detection, and support for private and dedicated networks for government and enterprise use.
SPACEiN is developing an indigenous metasurface-integrated handset optimized for direct SATCOM connectivity, and is building a multi-layer telecom payload architecture allowing existing smartphones to access the network with minimal hardware modifications. The phased deployment roadmap targets public service availability by 2028, beginning with underserved and disaster-prone zones.
