Stratospheric Balloon Services

SSC Space offers complete stratospheric balloon services for atmospheric research, astronomy, and scientific missions, as well as technical tests of re-entry capsules and unmanned vehicles. Services include payload design and manufacturing, service systems, balloon systems, launch services, flight operations, and recovery. Balloons are capable of lifting payloads of several tons to altitudes above 40 kilometres with flight times exceeding two weeks. Launches take place primarily from Esrange Space Center in northern Sweden, whose high-latitude geographical location provides unique advantages for polar atmospheric research and long-duration Arctic flights.
