About
Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) is the defence and aerospace manufacturing arm of the Tata Group, India’s largest industrial conglomerate. TASL’s Space Division provides satellite manufacturing, systems integration, structural component fabrication, and test services for ISRO programs and India’s nascent commercial space sector, following India’s 2020 space reforms that opened the sector to private enterprise.
TASL has established a satellite manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, India, targeting production of small and medium satellites in the 100 kg to 1,000 kg class. The company is positioning itself as a Tier-1 supplier for ISRO’s new constellation programs (including the upcoming NaVIC navigation satellite constellation upgrades and the GSAT communications satellite fleet) as well as a prime manufacturer for Indian private satellite operators enabled by the 2023 Indian Space Policy.
TASL has industrial partnerships with Airbus, Boeing, and Israel Aerospace Industries for co-production and technology transfer agreements, enabling it to bring international manufacturing know-how to Indian space programs. The company is a key enabler of the Indian government’s goal to increase India’s commercial space market share to 10% of the global market by 2030.
