About
TRL11’s Technology Suite encompasses a range of products designed for space-based applications, from photon capture to photon out. The ‘CAPTURE’ segment includes xClops Payloads, which are one-box visual payloads with multiple camera and lens options, intelligent vision on the edge, and are GEO rated. xClops combines 2-4 full-motion 4k video cameras with an advanced AI-enabled edge processor for identifying uncatalogued space objects and expediting event data downlink. It is proven on orbit for object tracking and autonomous rendezvous, supporting Space Domain Awareness (SSA/SDA), Orbital Warfare, Object Characterization at 20–50 km, Rendezvous Proximity and Docking, and Satellite Servicing. Features include AI-enabled machine vision edge computing, stereo cameras for depth sensing, a center camera for object detection & tracking, an optional 4th camera for docking & mission assurance, an optional monolithic telescope for resolved imagery at extreme distance, data storage, and containerized apps.
Modular Payloads offer an edge processor + recorder with up to 8 cameras, intelligent vision on the edge, and are LEO rated. These allow for bespoke AI-enabled machine vision payloads using TRL11’s SAVER (DVR + machine vision edge processor) with up to eight 4k full-motion video cameras, suitable for human space flight crew monitoring, mission assurance, own-ship health monitoring, and rendezvous proximity and docking. They feature multiple 4K & 1080p camera options, 10/100 & Gigabit Ethernet switches, an edge processor with VIP Algorithms, containerized apps, and data storage.
Space Rated Hardware Components include Networking Hardware (HANS), which are unmanaged network switches (5-port 10/100 or 8-port 10/100/1000) that are ruggedized and available for LEO or GEO. HANS is an industrial-grade layer 2 unmanaged Ethernet switch designed for space-worthy network connectivity, capable of concentrating multiple camera feeds, connecting other electronic subsystems, and supporting any network switching application in harsh space environments. It is power efficient (600mW idle, max 1400mW) and can be stand-alone or integrated into xClops or SAVER. Fovea Cameras provide up to 4k full-motion video, multiple lenses, wide dynamic range, and are LEO rated. These radiation-tolerant cameras offer rich visuals from space, with models like Fovea M1 (4k large-sensor, full-motion, color), Fovea M2 (1080p large-sensor, full-motion, color), Fovea M3 (small form-factor 4k full-motion color), and Fovea GC (small form-factor, raw image for star tracking, guidance and control). They feature onboard video encoders up to 4k, interchangeable lenses, built-in hardware HDR, and are power efficient and rugged.
The ‘PROCESS’ segment includes VIPOnly™ for intelligence at the edge. Anomaly Detection uses AI/ML event detection, off-nominal state flagging, and unidentified RSO detection. VIPOnly™ detects off-nominal spacecraft orientation, collision damage, and unidentified Resident Space Objects in real time using AI-enabled machine vision on live streaming video from orbit, supporting Mission Assurance, Own-Ship Health Monitoring, Space Situational Awareness, and Space Domain Awareness. Characterization uses AI/ML scene analysis, star & satellite identification, and new object behavior tracking. VIPOnly™ characterizes known stars and satellites by comparing detected objects against databases and identifies new objects, supporting Space Domain Awareness, Orbital Warfare, and Space Situational Awareness. ROI Extraction provides live object & event detection, 4D digital twin modeling, and 1/1000th downlink bandwidth. It extracts regions of interest from live video, downlinks, and reconstructs the scene using significantly less bandwidth, ideal for bandwidth-constrained missions, GEO operations, and efficient downlink.
The ‘TRANSMIT’ segment features VIPLink™ for resilient delivery. Live Streaming offers full motion video from LEO, proven S-Band performance, and real-time telepresence, demonstrated for live, full-motion video streaming from LEO over S-band, enabling real-time telepresence for mission operators. Resilient Downlink uses a handshakeless downlink protocol, bidirectional C2, forward error correction, and offers up to 2000% bandwidth improvement. VIPLink™ is a connectionless protocol optimized for low bandwidth, intermittent connectivity, and high packet-loss conditions typical of space-to-ground links, supporting all missions, LEO and GEO downlink, and bidirectional C2. Prioritized Downlink (VIP1ST™) uses AI scene analysis, prioritized non-sequential downlink, and critical data first. It performs intelligent scene analysis of recorded video for event detection, extracts and queues key portions for transmission first, ensuring useful video reaches mission control quickly.
Finally, ‘OPERATE’ includes Visual Mission Control (BMC3 software platform) for mission management, multi-feed management, telemetry fusion, and anomaly alerts. BMC3 manages feeds, fuses video with telemetry, detects anomalies, and enables real-time decisions, available on desktop, iPad, iPhone, Android, and Apple TV, with Hypervigilant Module integration for C2.
