End-of-Life Services
KMI contracts with satellite operators to deorbit non-functional satellites, allowing operators to maximize asset utilization and delay replacement costs.
About this service
KMI offers End-of-Life Services where satellite operators can contract with KMI to fulfill their satellite’s deorbit requirements. Instead of operators having to command a functional satellite to deorbit itself, consuming precious fuel, KMI will deploy its Laelaps spacecraft to safely secure and deorbit non-functional satellites. This service is available for both planned missions and those already in orbit, requiring no engineering considerations from the satellite operator due to KMI’s unique capture and release method. The pricing model involves monthly service fees, with adjustments for satellites already in space or early malfunctions.
