The FlatSat is an integration and test platform designed for hardware, firmware, and software development. It presents an entire satellite’s components laid out on a table, making them easily accessible for plugging in programmers and debugging equipment. This setup allows students to SSH into a Monitoring and Diagnostic Computer (MDC) to program, debug, and monitor boards and the OreSat bus. Additionally, a local ground station setup with software-defined radios enables sending commands, updating firmware, and controlling systems, simulating in-space operations from a short distance.
