Low-cost, electronically steered flat-panel Ka-band ground terminal for LEO/MEO satellite broadband.
Enterprise NGSO Terminal
Low-cost, electronically steered flat-panel Ka-band ground terminal for LEO/MEO satellite broadband.
Description
The Enterprise NGSO Terminal is ALCAN Systems' flat-panel ground terminal built on the company's liquid-crystal electronically steered antenna technology, targeted at enterprise connectivity over Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellite constellations. ALCAN positions it as the market's lowest-cost flat-panel ground terminal for NGSO broadband, delivering high-capacity Ka-band throughput without any mechanically moving parts.
The antenna uses two-dimensional electronic beam steering across a wide +/-55 degree scan angle, allowing it to track fast-moving non-geostationary satellites continuously. It is full-duplex, with slew times under 30 ms enabling greater than 99.5% signal throughput during satellite handovers. The terminal's modular design allows multiple antenna panels to be combined to scale gain and throughput to customer requirements.
Target applications include cellular/ISP trunking and backhaul to difficult-to-reach locations, mission-critical enterprise connectivity and disaster recovery, and energy and mining site connectivity, particularly where low power consumption (including potential solar power) and low maintenance (no moving parts) are important.
