About Digital Solid State Propulsion

Digital Solid State Propulsion, Inc. (DSSP) is a Nevada-based company that develops and produces safe, environmentally friendly energetic materials for defense, space, and commercial markets. Its electrically-throttled propellants are recognized as the world's first smart energetic materials, insensitive to shock, flame, and electrostatic discharge, and initiated only by electrical input.

Founded in October 2005 with a single employee, DSSP has grown to nearly 20 employees and has supplied customers including DARPA, NASA, and the US Navy. The company's technologies are used in igniters, squibs, rocket motors, thrusters, and special effects applications, and DSSP became the first energetic material allowed on board the International Space Station.

DSSP produces AF-M315E (ASCENT), a high-performance, less-toxic alternative to hydrazine originally developed by the Air Force Research Laboratory and licensed to DSSP for production, as well as its own GEM (Green Electric Monopropellant) product line, including GEM3 and Sierra GEM formulations, and hydroxylamine nitrate (HAN) solutions.
