About
GEM3 is a hydroxylammonium nitrate (HAN)-based liquid monopropellant developed by DSSP that can be electrically ignited or ignited via a catalyst bed. It is designed to be comparable to AF-M315E in density and viscosity while offering slightly higher performance capability and faster ignition characteristics, making it suitable for in-space propulsion thrusters and rocket motor applications. It ships as a 1.4C hazard class material and requires the customer to hold a current ATF permit and End User Agreement. As part of DSSP’s electrically-throttled ‘green’ propellant family, GEM3 is insensitive to shock, flame, and electrostatic discharge, requiring only electrical activation for ignition.
