Description
The TDEMI ULTRA is the flagship real-time EMI receiver series from GAUSS INSTRUMENTS, released in early 2018 and based on the company's patented TDEMI Technology, which combines time-domain and FFT-based measurement techniques with superheterodyne technology in a massively parallel topology. It covers the full frequency range from DC to 40 GHz within a single, fully integrated instrument that provides a spectrum analyzer, a real-time spectrum analyzer, a time-domain measurement mode, a fully gapless real-time spectrogram mode, a stepped scan receiver, and an FFT-based receiver. It offers an instantaneous (real-time) analysis bandwidth of 685 MHz, described as the fastest stepped scan and fastest FFT-based receiver performance available, with the lowest noise floor in its class. All operation modes are fully compliant with CISPR 16-1-1 and ANSI C63.2, allowing use for testing to civil standards (CISPR, EN, FCC Part 15, ANSI C63.4), military standards (MIL-461G and prior revisions), avionic standards (DO-160), and custom OEM standards. The system supports automated conducted emission measurements (with remote-controlled LISN and automatic phase measurement), automated real-time disturbance power measurement using an absorber clamp, full quasi-peak characterization up to 1 GHz measured in real-time across up to 64,000 frequencies in parallel, and MultiGHz real-time scanning for radiated emission measurements above 1 GHz with continuous turntable rotation and max-hold, reducing overall test time by up to a factor of 20 versus conventional heterodyne receivers. It includes an automated report generator, storable/recallable complete test setups (limit lines, transducers, settings), and 2D/3D radiation pattern visualization. Hardware uses ultra-high-speed analog-to-digital converters on impedance-controlled multi-layer PCBs (up to 12 layers) in precision-machined single-piece aluminium enclosures for heat dissipation and long-term stability, with RF front-end circuits built on thin-film substrates and bare-die MMICs in gold-plated brass enclosures for performance up to 26.5 GHz.
