About Hanwha Systems

Hanwha Systems Co., Ltd., founded in 2011 and headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, is the nation's leading defense electronics and ICT solutions company. As a subsidiary of Hanwha Aerospace, the company operates across land, naval, air, space, and cyber domains, with revenues exceeding $2.65 billion and approximately 4,800 employees. In December 2025, Hanwha Systems completed the Jeju Hanwha Space Center on Jeju Island — Korea's largest satellite mass-production facility — signaling its ambition to become a full-spectrum space prime contractor.

In the satellite payload domain, Hanwha Systems stands as the only Korean company capable of delivering both EO/IR and SAR payloads for military reconnaissance satellites. The company developed the IR sensor for KOMPSAT-3A (Korea's first indigenous IR satellite payload), is under contract for KOMPSAT-7 and KOMPSAT-7A EO/IR payloads, and has developed a Small SAR Satellite constellation system featuring electronic beam steering and 1-meter ground resolution.

Beyond payloads, Hanwha Systems supplies the complete satellite communication ground segment for South Korea's military: network controllers, integrated modems, and eight categories of fixed and vehicle-mounted satellite terminals linked to ANASIS-II (South Korea's first dedicated military communications satellite), under a KRW 888.5 billion DAPA contract spanning 2021–2025. The company is also commercializing flat-panel Electronically Steerable Antenna (ESA) technology for LEO broadband services via its investment in Hanwha Phasor.

Looking ahead, Hanwha Systems has announced plans to launch 2,000 LEO communications satellites by 2030 and signed a 2026 MOU with MDA Space and Telesat to pursue the K-LEO sovereign defense constellation.
