KOMPSAT 3A IR Sensor

The KOMPSAT 3A IR Sensor is an infrared sensor payload developed by Hanwha Systems for the KOMPSAT 3A satellite. This sensor, along with a sub-meter level optics camera, enables day/night imaging. Hanwha Systems successfully developed this world-class infrared sensor, marking Korea’s first achievement in this category. The KOMPSAT 3A satellite is currently operational, with its mission lifetime extended by an additional four years. Hanwha Systems is also developing follow-on models, KOMPSAT 7 and KOMPSAT 7A, which are described as the world’s most advanced satellites with super resolution imaging payloads. The company specializes in electro-optics payload systems for KOMPSAT and is leveraging the IR sensor technology from KOMPSAT 3A for the key modules of super resolution camera payloads and day/night infrared imaging payloads for KOMPSAT 7 and 7A.
