IHI Aerospace Co., Ltd. is Japan's primary solid rocket motor manufacturer and a critical supplier to JAXA's national launch vehicle programs, headquartered in Tomioka, Gunma. As a subsidiary of IHI Corporation (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 7013), IHI Aerospace has been central to Japanese space access since the 1960s, developing and producing the solid rocket boosters for the H-IIA, H-IIB, and H3 liquid-fueled launch vehicles, as well as solid-fueled sounding rockets and the Epsilon small orbital launch vehicle. The company's solid rocket motor technology enables Japan's domestic launch independence and provides strategic space access capability to JAXA and the Japanese government.
