BLACK BIRD Sounding Rocket Series
Customer-configurable hybrid-propulsion sounding rockets for microgravity and atmospheric research, using liquid nitrous oxide (LN₂O) and HDPE propellants.
Description
BLACK BIRD is INNOSPACE's family of small hybrid-propulsion sounding rockets, designed for microgravity experiments and atmospheric research. Both variants use liquid nitrous oxide (LN₂O) as oxidizer and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) as fuel, making them inherently safe and easy to transport.
BLACK BIRD-1 is a non-reusable variant (1,485 mm long, 105 mm diameter, 8.5 kg total mass) carrying 1 kg to approximately 1 km apogee with a 3-second burn. BLACK BIRD-2 is a reusable variant (2,090 mm long, 105 mm diameter) with the same payload capacity and burn time. INNOSPACE designs and manufactures customer-configured sounding rockets to specified payload and altitude requirements and provides full launch services.
