Innovative Space Carrier (ISC)

Innovative Space Carrier Inc. (ISC) was founded in May 2022 in Tokyo, Japan by Kojiro Hatada, a former Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) official who led Japan's J-Startup program. The company's mission is to democratize access to space by building infrastructure for daily, affordable space travel and cargo delivery — the same ubiquitous reliability that people expect from air travel, applied to orbital transportation.

ISC is developing ASCA, a single-stage-to-orbit reusable rocket designed to carry 10-tonne payloads to low Earth orbit at approximately 400 km altitude, or accommodate up to 50 passengers for point-to-point transportation. The rocket is engineered for a turnaround cycle of once per day and a lifetime of more than 1,000 reflights with regular inspection and maintenance — dramatically lowering per-flight cost compared with expendable vehicles.

The development follows an agile three-phase roadmap through the 2040s, supported by ISC's proprietary P4SD platform — a cloud-based space engineering environment that integrates flight simulators, aerodynamic solvers, digital twins, and additive manufacturing tooling to compress traditional multi-year design cycles. ASCA 1.0, a subscale test vehicle (8.3 m tall, 2.0 m diameter), conducted initial vertical takeoff and landing trials focused on guidance and control technology acquisition in 2025–2026.

Beyond point-to-orbit launch, ISC's long-term vision encompasses spaceports, suborbital point-to-point passenger transport linking distant cities within 60 minutes, and space tourism — positioning the company as a full-spectrum space transportation infrastructure provider rather than a single-product launch vendor.
