Description
KP Labs (Gliwice, Poland) develops onboard AI computing platforms and Earth observation payloads for small satellites, combining machine learning inference with raw sensor data processing to enable intelligent satellites that do not need to downlink raw imagery for ground analysis. This dramatically reduces the bandwidth requirements of EO constellations and enables near-real-time response to events detected from space.
KP Labs' flagship product is Leopard — a high-performance onboard AI inference computer that runs deep neural network models on satellite imagery while in orbit. Leopard provides GPU-class ML inference in a low-power, space-qualified form factor, enabling applications like cloud detection and masking (so only cloud-free images are downlinked), change detection (only tiles showing change since last pass are downlinked), object detection (ships, vehicles, agricultural anomalies), and hyperspectral band selection.
KP Labs also develops Antelope — a compact hyperspectral imaging payload for CubeSats and small satellites — and provides the software framework (Antelope Processing System) for running ML models on hyperspectral data. The company has significant flight heritage: their Leopard AI computer flew on ESA's Φsat-2 mission (Phisat-2, 2024) — Europe's dedicated AI-in-space demonstration satellite.
