About NTS (National Technical Systems)
National Technical Systems (NTS) was founded in 1961 and grew into one of the most trusted independent testing and engineering laboratories serving the U.S. aerospace, defense, and government sectors. Following its acquisition by Element Materials Technology, six of NTS's facilities remained focused on serving the U.S. government and its suppliers as NTS Technical Systems, while twenty additional NTS labs joined Element's broader global portfolio. Today the U.S. government-focused business operates as Element U.S. Space & Defense, continuing the NTS legacy of rigorous, mission-critical test and certification work.
Element U.S. Space & Defense (formerly NTS) provides a comprehensive suite of testing services including environmental simulation (temperature, humidity, altitude, solar, wind, hail, fire, rain, ice, salt fog, sand, and dust), dynamics and acoustics testing in cleanroom environments, EMI/EMC and HIRF/ESD compliance testing, hydraulics and pneumatics testing, ballistic and munitions testing, and MIL-DTL-901E compliant shock testing for naval platforms. Several facilities are ITAR-registered and equipped to support highly sensitive defense and ordnance evaluation work.
With decades of accumulated expertise, the company serves aerospace primes, defense contractors, and government agencies that require independent verification of equipment performance and durability under extreme conditions. Its facilities across the United States combine specialized test chambers, firing ranges, and simulation equipment to support the full lifecycle of mission-critical hardware qualification.
